What are Ghana's PAYE tax bands in 2026? From 1 September 2026 (GRA), monthly chargeable income is taxed at 0% on the first GH₵588, 5% on the next GH₵80, 10% on the next GH₵100, 17.5% on the next GH₵2,900, 25% on the next GH₵16,000, 30% on the next GH₵30,332 and 35% on anything above GH₵50,000.

Is SSNIT deducted before PAYE? Yes. The employee's 5.5% SSNIT contribution on basic salary is deducted before PAYE is calculated, as are provident fund contributions of up to 16.5% of basic salary.

How much does an employer pay to SSNIT? The employer contributes 13% of the employee's basic salary on top of the salary.

Why does my basic salary matter? SSNIT and provident fund contributions are worked out on basic salary, not on allowances. If part of your pay is allowances, enter your basic salary separately to get an accurate result.

Is this calculator accurate? It uses the Ghana Revenue Authority's published resident rates and matches independent worked examples. Your payslip can differ with benefits in kind, overtime tax, reliefs or other income. For your own position, check with GRA or a tax adviser.
